Volkswagen officially reveal the new al new ID.7

Just when you thought the Volkswagen ID. Range couldn’t get any bigger, it just has. Officially revealed to the world on Monday 17th April, Volkswagen have introduced their very first global electric model for the upper mid-size class, the ID. 7.

The fully electric fastback combines high range values, fast charging, ample space, and intuitive operation in the new premium standard from Volkswagen. With up to 435 miles of range (depending on the battery size), the ID7 looks to challenge the likes of the Tesla Model 3 and the Hyundai Ioniq 6. It’s also been built parallel with Volkswagen’s notorious MEB (Modular Electric Drive matrix) reminiscent of the ID. family and the technology behind the present and future of Volkswagen Electric Vehicles. Exterior & Charging

The most controversial entity of the electric vehicle market is the question surround charging times and how fast it can go from low battery life, to near full. As mentioned, the Volkswagen ID. 7 will have up to 435 miles or range, dependent on whether you choose the smaller 77kwh battery, or the slightly larger 86kwh battery, but in just under 30 minutes its fast-charging capabilities mean that you can recharge its battery from 10% to 80%, resulting in fewer stops. In addition to this, its aerodynamic style of body means that when using the battery, the ID.7 focuses on low consumption and high efficiency. The vehicle is fitted with 20” aerodynamic profile wheels to further ensure greater efficiency and is also the first ID. Range vehicle with adaptive dampers for effective suspension in all scenarios. Not to mention, the concept of the design has been developed to allow the vehicle's aero dynamic capabilities perform exceptionally well to work with the driving technology the ID. 7 has to offer.

Interior

Moving forward into the interior of the vehicle, Volkswagen certainly weren’t compromising when it came to a premium feeling product. The focus on the ID. 7 has been primarily on being a spacious, roomy, and sophisticated saloon that boasts a high-end feeling. As you step inside, you are greeted by an incredible 15inch infotainment system that is notified of your entry by a sensor near the door and driver’s seat. As soon as you approach the ID. 7, the smart vents start to either cool or heat the car depending on either your preferences or the temperature outside and its voice command system will take the position of the sun into consideration. If you look up, you’ll notice the smart glass roof that will tint and clear on selection chromatically to suit your preference and to add to the essence of the ID. 7’s spacious purpose.

The ID. 7 also features high-end wellness seats which are fully air conditioned and even come with a new massage system on an optional basis.Fitted around the vehicle is a top of the range Harman Kardon sound system for crisp, precise, and smooth audio for a 360 experience for both driver and passengers.Digital features include a clearer arrangement of functions and settings, as well as an augmented reality heads up display (HUD) and refined assistance systems for a more enhanced user experience.

Our favourite part? The whole interior is completely made from sustainable, recycled materials, further encompassing Volkswagen’s determination to reach carbon neutrality, and eventually becoming net zero.

Overall, the ID. 7 appears to be an exciting addition to the ID. Range, potentially replacing the Arteon as the go-to saloon in the new-era of electric vehicles and will certainly raise some eyebrows across the globe.
