What are Advance Payments?

Advanced Payment is an amount payable upfront to a dealer in addition to the weekly mobility allowance. The mobility allowance may not cover the cost for some larger or more expensive cars. In these cases, cars are allocated with an Advance Payment which represents the difference between the amount your allowance covers over the three-year agreement period and the overall cost of the car you choose.

The Advance Payment is a fixed amount, but should not be confused with a deposit, it is non-refundable. The allowance is then paid directly via the Department for Work and Pensions or Service Personnel and Veterans Agency, and you cannot alter the amount of the weekly payments.
