Offering the perfect mix of brains and brawn, the upcoming new Audi SQ8 is a great choice for those needing the space of an SUV but who don’t want to lose the fun driving experience of their current performance vehicle.
With a 4 litre TDI engine, the SQ8 brings 435PS and a hefty 900Nm of torque to the table, making it one of the most powerful diesels currently available in Europe. This means this SUV has a hot-hatch rivalling 0-62mph time of just 4.8 seconds. The SQ8 is equipped with an eight speed tiptronic transmission and utilises quattro all-wheel drive for superior grip on a wide range of road and off-road services.
As expected, the new SQ8 comes with a high level of specification, and features the latest innovative technologies to offer a very special driving experience. Firstly, there’s a mild hybrid system to help increase the efficiency of the engine, and this allows the driver to either recuperate, travel with the engine at idle or deactivate the engine for up to 40 seconds by simply lifting of the accelerator between 34-99mph.
Inside the beautifully laid out cabin you’ll notice the sleek dual screen design in the centre, welcoming you as you begin your journey. Choose the SQ8 Vorsprung edition and you can slide into one of the plush super sports seats, finished in contrast stitching and get comfortable with the climate control and massage functions. The two touchscreens provide both haptic and acoustic feedback meaning you can focus your full attention on the road ahead. When the engine is off the upper display screen blends seamlessly into the dashboard, for an almost invisible look. Turn the vehicle on and the screen comes to life, offering full control over all of your infotainment options and navigation, with many intelligent features for an easy journey. Meanwhile, the lower screen is dedicated to keeping your vehicle comfortable, allowing you to personalise the heating and air-conditioning, and all other convenience functions fitted.
For a personalised driving experience, Audi drive select, fitted as standard, allows you to choose from seven driving modes, all of which finely tune many mechanical aspects of your car to your chosen setting. Working alongside the adaptive air suspension sport, there is the ability to adjust the ride height as required by up to 90mm.
Taking a look around the outside of the SQ8 you’ll notice the HD Matrix LED headlights, and noticeable horizontal light strip between the rear lights. This emphasises the width of this new model, and is a head turning feature on the high-end Audi models. Entry to the boot is easily accessible with the electric tailgate, which is fitted as standard to the SQ8, and inside you’ll find 605 litres of boot space, or a huge 1755 litres if you fold the rear seats down. There’s plenty of space for all the family, plus everything you’ll need for a new adventure.
As expected from a performance Audi, some stunning features let you know you’re sitting in a rather special vehicle. The honeycomb styling features add to the sporty appearance of this car, and the diffuser is finished in matt titan black for that more aggressive look. Vorsprung editions of the SQ8 arrive with a sleek black styling pack for extra road presence. With a degree of personalisation available the SQ8 can be tailored to your taste, with a range of interior materials including an oak finish, and optional features in grey or red. The Audi Virtual Cockpit provides information in a red colour scheme to further tie in the sporty features on this model.
There’re so many features in the new SQ8, we can’t possibly list them all here, so to get truly hands on with this new model, why not get in touch to book your appointment. If you’ve been thinking of upgrading your current vehicle, this might be the perfect model for you.
