The iconic Volkswagen Golf is currently in its seventh generation and is a big hit here in our showrooms, both for performance lovers and for those looking for a stylish family car.
The announcement from Volkswagen back in November of a technologically updated model got us all wondering what the new Golf would bring and thankfully we haven’t had to wait too long for full details.
The new Golf will open for order on February 2nd 2017 with arrivals into showrooms expected in March. Available in 12 models, from the base S model to the top of the range R, the car is also available in Estate form which comes in eight variations.
Changes to the new Golf are minimal on the exterior, with small design changes offering a more modernised appearance. New bumpers and front wings update the new Golf and at the rear of the vehicle, LED lights now come as standard on all new Golf models. BlueMotion technologies such as a stop-start system and regenerative braking are also standard across the range.
Dependent on your chosen model, further safety technologies are available including City Emergency Braking, Front Assist, Traffic Jam Assist (offering semi-automated driving) and Emergency Assist, all contributing to the safety of pedestrians and passengers at all times.
Under the bonnet a range of new and updated engines are available from the new base 1.0 litre petrol engine, with 85PS to the improved performance of the Golf GTI and GTI Performance getting 230PS and 245PS respectively. The Golf R now comes with a thrilling 310PS and a 0-62mph time of just 4.6 seconds, which we think is pretty good for a car which will still comfortably carry the children to school and your shopping home from the supermarket.
The new Golf will be getting a special unveiling at Vindis Volkswagen so keep an eye out for details on our website and social media. If you wish you place an order (available from February 2nd) then please contact your local Vindis Volkswagen retailer, who will be happy to assist you.
