SEAT's first ever SUV sweeps up another award during incredible debut year
An incredible debut year for the SEAT Ateca continues, as the What Car? Car of the Year winner claims another prestigious award in the form of the Car Dealer Power ‘Car of the Year’. The award was fittingly presented at a ceremony in the just as distinctive looking Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth.
With the award comes the dilemma of SEAT having to find some more space in the trophy cabinet as the Ateca shows no signs of slowing down in popularity. Along with the most recent acquisition, the Ateca has already claimed awards from What Car? Auto Express, Auto Best, HonestJohn.co.uk and Top Gear Magazine. Winning awards like these shows why there is such a buzz around the brands first ever SUV from the public, media and the auto industry alike.
Based entirely on the opinions of those working in Britain’s car dealerships across all brands, the Ateca clearly has its competition reeling. Editor of Car Dealer’s, James Baggott, made it clear that the Ateca had won the award due to a haul of votes from dealers of rival manufacturers.
He said when presenting the award that, “A stylish new SUV, the Ateca has been billed as a combination of distinctive design, driving fun, urban versatility and compelling utility. And it has done wonders to raise the awareness of SEAT, which brought it to the market. In double-quick time the Ateca has established itself as a firm favourite among the motoring media, UK car buyers and, of course, dealers who represent the brand.”
Upon collecting the award, the UK director of SEAT, Richard Harrison expressed his pleasure; “We knew that the Ateca had great potential to succeed and the impact which it has had in the UK has surpassed even our own ambitious aspirations. The Car Dealer Power award is particularly valued as it demonstrates respect and appreciation from within the auto retail industry – across all brands, not just from those who work in our own SEAT dealerships.
