The Auto Express long-term tests are a great way to get an idea of just how easy a vehicle is to live with, and the latest ŠKODA Superb Sportline (in a particularly opinion-dividing colour) has bagged an initial four-stars early on in the test.
The Superb Sportline is the latest, striking addition to the model range and comes in hatchback and estate variations. It’s the sportiest of the range, including 19” alloy wheels, Alcantara sports seats, LED rear lights, a leather, multifunction steering wheel, navigation, adaptive cruise control and parking sensors as standard (and that’s just the start of the equipment, let’s not forget those Simply Clever features that make the ŠKODA range so popular!) The Auto Express team took the 1.4TSI, 150PS model out on the roads, however, should you prefer a little more performance, the 2.0TSI, 4x4 automatic provides a thrilling 280PS. A range of diesel engines are also available, ranging from 150PS to 190PS.
Almost 1,500 miles into their test, the Auto Express tester commented, “It still boasts all the traits that make the Superb appealing – it’s just more striking. Rear legroom and boot space are particular highlights, with four adults able to sit in executive class comfort and the luggage compartment displaying an almost insatiable appetite for suitcases, shopping, pushchairs and golf clubs.”
He continues; “The car is enjoyable to drive while remaining fluid and relaxed for cruising, even without the optional £750 adaptive dampers… The dark cabin, with its black headlining, carbon-effect trim and subtle chrome highlights, has a real air of quality about it.” The team’s Superb Sportline comes in the eye-catching Dragon Green metallic exclusive paint, which is available to add for £820. It’s an incredible colour and you certainly won’t go unnoticed if you opt for this. However, if Dragon Green isn’t quite your colour, Corrida Red comes as standard or there are five further metallic and pearl paints to choose from.
