Volkswagen has been named Manufacturer of the Year at this year’s The Sunday Times Motor Awards.
The ever-popular Golf did well, taking home the awards for Car of the Year and Family Car of the Year. The Golf is now in its eighth generation and fought off tough competition to secure the awards, thanks to its top technology and the versatility of its engine range. The Sunday Times Driving team described the Golf as the ‘perfect blend of forward-thinking’ and praised its ‘strikingly high tech, minimalist interior’.
The Golf wasn’t the only winner as, despite being the smallest car in the range, the up! GTI also took home Value Car of the Year. The small but mighty model offers the larger engine and sporty features, packaged up in the compact dimensions of the up! body.
The overall award for Manufacturer for the Year is a hugely proud moment for the brand, as it represents the high quality and modern design found across the range. With the latest innovations in fully electric motoring, and high-tech safety systems that feature as standard, this is a truly prestigious accolade.
As we round up 2020, we still have many more exciting moments to come, as we look forward to the arrival of the Arteon Shooting Brake and new Tiguan. For those looking for more power, make sure you don’t miss the arrival of the Tiguan R and Touareg R which we look forward to welcoming early next year. The ‘R’ treatment will also apply to the stylish Arteon, and of course we have brand new fully electric models too. It’s an exciting time to be searching for your next car.
